Carson, Kerra

Kerra S. Carson is a graduate of The Ohio State University's Master of Arts program in African American and African Studies where her focus was Social Science. During her Master's program she worked as a GAA in the Office of Minority Affairs' Young Scholars Program where she served underrepresented students involved in a six-year pre-collegiate program. Prior to that, Kerra worked full-time in various social service positions for the City of San Antonio for four years.

As an undergraduate, she fell in love with Student Life work as an Resident Assistant at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. While at The Lake, she majored in Sociology and History. It was then she decided that she would do this type of work forever.

Kerra is currently a doctoral student in Higher Education and Student Life in the School of Educational Policy and Leadership. Her research interests include retention and matriculation of black students on predominately white campuses, non-traditional students, financial aid policy, and student activities and involvement. Her ultimate goal is to become the Vice-President of Student Life at a major research university.
