- 7 Dumb Things Well Intended People Say that Widen the Diversity Gap (50 min)
There are a number of common statements made by people that are not intending any harm yet the impact can be very harmful in conversations. We examine each of the 7 statements by looking at the domains of intent, impact and then best bet for a response. - African American Student Identity: Being Black and Blending In (50-60 minutes)
This presentation will acknowledge, explore and identify factors that contribute to identity development and persistence at predominately White institutions (PWI's), with particular attention to The Ohio State University. - Banana's, Ho-Ho's and Coconuts: The Asian American Identity (45-60 minutes)
This is a presentation in which a brief introduction is done of Asian American Diaspora. - BART (Bias Assessment and Response Team) (45 minutes)
Topics include definitions of bias incidents, how to report and other options. - Deconstructing the Chappelle Show: A Critical Look. (45-60 minutes)
This is a presentation/lecture where various skits are examined from the television show and deconstructed critically to bring to light the underlying racial and ethnic issues brought up in each skit. - Encuentro Cultural: Cultural Encounter (45-60 minutes)
A fun, interactive encounter with the diversity inherent in the Latino culture through music and personal testimonies. - Flavors of home: Food, Culture and Identity
This presentation will explore the connections between food culture and Identity. This is an interactive journey through personal experiences, family traditions and explorations of culture. The goal is to find a common ground and commonalities among cultures and identities - Fringe Identity: the unique and challenging place of an outsider view (30-60 minutes)
Topics can include multi racial experience and identity as well as non-heterosexual identity as foundation for peace keeping. - "From Rags to Riches" - Latinas in popular culture, from fairytales to the movies
This presentation will explore the images about Latinas in pop culture. We'll explore the roles of females and most specifically about Latinas in fairy tales, movies and other media, and how this messages influence the way Latina's successes are measured in the United States. - GLBT 101 (45 minutes)
Learn the basics of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. - Interpersonal Communication and GLBT Relationships (1-3 Hours)
Broadly and generally fills a gap in the interpersonal communication literature relating to GLBT relationships and relationships between people who are GLBT and heterosexual. - Introduction to Men (2-8 hours)
This workshop looks at male roles in society, the choices men face, and the lives men lead. With a focus on male behaviors, issues of sexism are discussed with a goal of improving the conditions of men's lives and strengthening the sense of caring and rightness they take out into the world. Good for men's, women's or mixed gender groups. - Islam and America (45-90 minutes)
This presentation introduces Islam to the audience. A basic framework is laid out covering historical timeline, important figures and beliefs. - Native American Experience and the Historical Effects of Colonialism (30-60 minutes)
Topics include a snapshot of Native American culture and community pre and post colonialism. - Paris, Lindsay, Nicole: Representations of Bodies in Popular Culture (45-60 minutes)
An exploration into the role media and celebrity worship culture play in the representation of female bodies. - Relationships 101 (45-60 minutes)
This presentation/workshop introduces the many factors that can help or hinder relationships. We also look at interfaith relationships and inter-ethnic relationships. - Slavery and North American Indigenous (30-60 minutes)
Few people understand the relationship between North American Indigenous cultures and the topic of slavery. - Songs of Freedom: Women in the Civil Rights Movement (50 minutes)
An exploration into the role women played in the civil rights movement in the American South. - Spirituality in College (45-60 minutes)
This is a presentation/lecture where definitions of religion and spirituality are debated. A discussion follows about religious/spiritual awareness and behavior of students in college versus when they were not at college. - The American Indian Movement (30-60 minutes)
This presentation would discuss the American Indian Movement and how members of various groups facilitated the first American Indian Studies program. - The Hook-Up Culture on Campus: Negotiating Sexual Wellness (50 minutes)
An exploration into the ever present hook-up (casual sexual encounter without a relationship) culture on campus. - This Is What a Feminist Looks Like: Exploring the Many Faces of U.S. Feminism (50 minutes)
An exploration into the historical role of feminists in U.S. history including the suffragist movement, the ‘70s feminist movement and third-wave feminism. - Understanding and Meeting the Needs of Multiracial Students (45-60 minutes)
The presentation will examine the changing demographics of the student population and the growing number of multiracial students on campus. - What makes us Latinos?
Presentation about the political, historical, and psychological influences of ethnic and racial labels on the Latino communities. The presentation will cover cultural separations and competition amongst Latino sub-populations for multiple reasons related to socioeconomic access, education, and political strength. This presentation hopes to engage students, field questions, and encourage dialogue between multiple student populations.

Participants in this workshop will gain an understanding of the concept of leadership; discover new possible ways of leading their current organizations and other groups to which they belong. - NCBI Building Community by Welcoming Diversity (8 hours)
A full day, interactive and participatory prejudice reduction / community-building training program, designed to promote understanding and an increased sensitivity to the many similarities and differences among individuals and groups in our society. - NCBI Skills for Resolving Interpersonal and Intergroup Conflicts (2.5 hours)
This workshop teaches skills for resolving tough interpersonal and intergroup conflicts using NCBI's coalition-building model. - Non-violent Communication (1-3 hours with multiple sessions)
This workshop will help individuals explore personal communication patterns and group dynamics to foster constructive dialogues in difficult situations.
